ACVB Announces 2023 Hospitality Hall of Fame
This week, the Atlanta Convention & Visitor's Bureau (ACVB) announced the following nominees - and longtime GRA members - to be inducted into the 2023 Hospitality Hall of Fame:
Tracy Gates | Owner & Chef, Busy Bee Café
Busy Bee Café was founded in Atlanta in 1947 by self-taught chef and restaurateur, Lucy Jackson, who sold to Tracy's father nearly two decades later. Tracy inherited the Café in 1987 and she’s been building the brand ever since. In 2022, the Busy Bee Café became the first restaurant in Atlanta to earn a America’s Classics Award from the James Beard Foundation. Thanks to Tracy's exemplary leadership and business savvy, the Busy Bee Cafe has turned from a local favorite into a national sensation - and a pillar of the community.
David Marvin | Chairman & Founder, Legacy Ventures
David launched Legacy Ventures in 1994, which has grown into a best-in-class hotel management, restaurant management and development company. Legacy Ventures has made significant investments to Atlanta's downtown convention and entertainment district, and turned Marietta Street into a popular destination for convention attendees, tourists and residents. David also actively gives back to the community through involvement in the Atlanta Rotary Club, Central Atlanta Progress, Georgia State University School of Hospitality’s Advisory Board, and more.
Frank Poe | Executive Director, Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA)
Frank has been a respected and accomplished leader in the convention, hospitality and tourism industry for over a decade. During his tenure as Executive Director, the convention center has expanded to create more than 1 million square feet of contiguous exhibit space, added the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Signia by Hilton Atlanta to its campus. Frank's visionary leadership has transformed Downtown Atlanta into a destination for travelers from all over the world.
The GRA extends congratulations to the recipients of this prestigious honor. Nominees will be inducted into ACVB Hospitality Hall of Fame on Wednesday, November 1 at The Fox Theatre. Please stay tuned for registration information.
